The total length of the project is around 1,400m with the central part of KSMB to be around 500m. It has a constant 3-lane carriageway at both bounds with slip roads connecting Ma Wan Island. The main configuration of the KSMB is of a cable-stayed bridge. The whole of the fixed crossing has a double deck. The upper deck is for the normal vehicular traffic to and from Chek Lap Kok Airport, where the lower deck is for the Airport Railway tracks as well as service/emergency vehicle roads at either side of the tracks. The width of upper carriageway is around 13m where the lower deck is around 5m.

The bituminous materials were supplied by AAL's production plant in Sham Shui Kok which was specifically erected for the North Lantau link projects.
