Airport Runway Re-surfacing Project in Bahamas

Anderson Asphalt (Bahamas) Limited [A subsidiary of Anderson Asphalt Limited] completed the pavement resurfacing of the Grand Bahama International Airport runway resurfacing in the middle of 2002.

Background information of the project is summarized below:

  • The total length of the runway : 11,200 ft
  • Estimate tonnage : 25,000 MT
  • Works were undertaken under both displaced thresholds and night closure conditions.
  • Construction time: 2 months
  • Aircraft landing and depart per day: around 200
  • Output of the mixing plant: 160 MT per hour
  • 3/4 inch mix and 1/2 inch mix are used on this runway project to ICAO and FDOT standards. Computerized level control was used for laying works.
  • Laying temperature between 140oC to 160oC
  • Thickness variation 34mm-75mm
