Asphalt
Anderson Asphalt is one of a few companies world-wide with the ability
to provide machine laid bridge deck surfacing of mastic asphalt.
This material has been specially developed for steel decked
suspension bridges, which are often exposed to vibration and
movement due to temperature variations, traffic loading and
high winds. Not only is mastic asphalt highly flexible, it
is also resistant to cracking, skid resistant and less likely
to harden as a result of aging. Selection of only the best
materials available provides the excellent durability. Surfacing
life of more than 20 years is not unusual.
The Company used mastic asphalt on the surfacing of the Tsing Ma Bridge,
one of Hong Kong's predominant landmarks and which opened in April, 1997.
Anderson Mastic (China) Limited was formed to provide mastic
asphalt in Mainland China - such as for the Jiangyin Bridge
on the Yangtze River.
Anderson Asphalt is at the frontier of the industry and demonstrated by
its capability with respect to mastic asphalt. Similarly, with Stone
Mastic Asphalt (SMA), is material has been demonstrated to be an excellent
wearing course material, as a result of its interlocking framework of
aggregate, thick binder film and the use of cellulose fibres. Compared to
ordinary asphalt, SMA resists rutting, deformation and low temperature
cracking and has enhanced noise reduction ability, good surface texture
and excellent durability.
